Since my little munchkin was 3 months old, I’ve been hearing…
Aw, when are you having another one?
Are you going to try for a boy next?
With babies that cute, you should make more!
Now that she’s 3 years old the observations made by others have gotten a little bolder…
Oh, you *just* have one?
Seriously, it’s time for baby #2 – you don’t want to start all over…
You should really give her a sibling.
Let me start off by saying – rude. Please, do not badger women (or their partners!) about when they may or may not have children. You have no idea what they may be going through. They may be experiencing infertility, pregnancy or infant loss, or financial, emotional, relational or health challenges that make having another baby difficult or even impossible.
I have one and only one, by choice. That’s it – my own free will. And even I would appreciate it if people stopped worrying about how busy, or not busy, my uterus is.
For the last three years I’ve been preventing pregnancy holistically.
I took birth control pills for nearly seven years, starting in my teens and had a whole host of side effects that took significant time, effort, and money to resolve upon discontinuing them.
So, at this point in my life, I’m using Fertility Awareness Methods to stay pregnancy-free. I find this method very empowering. I know so much more about my cycle, and my body, than I did before I started fertility awareness.
Fertility Awareness Methods are not the same as the rhythm method or the calendar method, which have effectiveness rates around 70%. The Red Tent Sisters, have an amazing “Green Your Birth Control” program called the Justisse Method. When practiced properly effectiveness can be as high as 99.4%! I highly suggest checking them out!
